Plastic Cards

This data carrier type is generally known as "plastic card". Of course card types vary according to their application. However, you can roughly divide plastic cards into mono-layer cards (only one material layer) and laminated cards (consisting of different material layers).

Mono-layer cards are typically used as telephone cards, while laminated cards, due to their longer lifespan, are ideal for the following applications:

  • Bank Cards
  • Credit Cards
  • ID-Cards
  • Driving Licenses
  • Chip Cards (Smart Cards)
  • Contactless Cards
  • Dual Interface Cards (Hybrid Cards)

MELZER offers fully automated production solutions for all these different card types.

The modular system, unique in this field, guarantees that machines being bought years ago can be extended or retrofitted by incorporating the latest technologies. This fact allows the integration of future technologies like

  • Finger print sensors
  • Solar cells
  • Flat batteries
  • LCD/LED displays
  • Keyboards

A typical example would be the production of contactless cards. Whether low frequency (125 kHz) or high frequency (13.56 MHz) cards, all types can be produced fully automatically in superior quality and with lowest reject rates.
